Four wildfires in the northwest are believed to be man-made

All four of the wildfires discovered in the northwest in the past two days are believed to be caused by humans.

Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcot says the fire that was discovered Sunday north of Kispiox that grew to 16 hectares yesterday is now under control.

He says it’s the time of the year that they have to remind people.

“We don’t know the cause of these specific fires. Just in general, our message is to be careful. We are trying to remind people to exercise caution when open burning or having campfires.”

Another fire north of Kispiox has grown to 15 hectares today after being discovered yesterday.

Turcot says all the fires are subsiding due to the weather and the work of fire crews.

He says all the fires will be under investigation.
