BC helping to expand homecare support for seniors

Seniors are seeing more homecare support in several communities across the province.

This is through a new five-year agreement with United Way BC for popular programs, such as Better at Home.

“Through the programs and services delivered by United Way BC, older adults are able to stay healthier, be more active and better connected to their communities,” said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health.

This includes Granisle and Hazelton with more community connector positions being introduced.

BC will be providing $304 million through the agreement’s term with services delivered through non-profit agencies.

The Village of Granisle and Wrinch Memorial Foundation Society in Hazelton would take on operations.

Better at Home has supported seniors with non-medical home support services, such as grocery shopping, minor home repairs, snow shoveling and transportation for medical appointments.
