Home sales dip in Smithers, rise in Burns Lake

New real estate stats in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District has been released by the BC Northern Real Estate Board as of the end of March.

In Smithers, 28 houses have been sold so far this year which is down compared to the 32 recorded in the same time last year.

This also saw the total value of the homes sold drop from $15.7 million to $12.4 million.

A different story was told in Burns Lake as 11 homes changed hands compared to seven last year.

The total value also went up from $1.7 million to $4 million.

As of the end of March, there were 57 homes on the market in the Burns Lake area.

Hazeltons and Highway 37 North also saw a bump from two properties sold last year to eight so far this year.

That also saw a jump from $322,000 in total value to $1.6 million.

Across northern BC, 917 sales have been reported this year with a total value of $368 million.
