A driver clocked going 163 kilometres per hour was stopped by BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) at the end of March near Smithers.
According to police, they were driving in a 100 kilometres per hour zone and had a covered license place.
“When someone is driving at that speed, they’re not just putting themselves at risk — they’re endangering everyone around them,” said Constable Van Wieringen
Mounties also ticked the driver for not displaying an “N” magnet on the back of their vehicle.
“Public safety is a shared responsibility, and it takes all areas of policing,” said Acting Corporal Melissa Murray.
“Whether it’s highway patrol, general duty or community policing we all have a role to play to reduce harm and keep people safe.”
RCMP and BCHP are reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert as warmer spring weather often means more motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians on the road.
