Carmen Graf died over the weekend.
He started as a Smithers Alderman in 1972 and was elected Mayor for the first time in 1981.
In 2009, he was elected Mayor of Telkwa and last year was presented with the David McKenzie Award at the Smithers Community and Business Excellence Awards.
