A female hockey player from Smithers has committed to play college hockey in Alberta next season.
Gabriella Meier will be suiting up for the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens.
The 17-year-old has played for the Prince George-based Northern Capitals U18 AAA program the last three seasons.
This year, Meier has posted 12 goals and five assists for the Caps.
The Queens program plays in the Alberta Athletics Colleges Conference.
Meier joins Caps graduates Camryn Ward of Kitimat and Penelope Johnson of Gitanmaax on the Queens.
