Smithers bylaw to ease food truck operation set for adoption

The Mobile Vendor Bylaw is up for adoption during tomorrow night’s (Tuesday) Smithers Council Meeting.

Development started over two years ago after vendors in the region wanted setting up and operating in the community to be easier.

This included laying out various locations where vendors can book to operate and guidelines on how far they must be from similar brisk-and-mortar stores.

The approved locations include:

  • Bovill Square
  • Central Park
  • Chandler Park
  • Elks Park
  • Goat Park
  • Heritage Park
  • Riverside Campground

In March 2024, the town put out a survey looking for feedback on the bylaw which was then given it’s first three readings in November.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be live streamed on the town’s Facebook page.
