Pile burns planned north of Houston

The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a pile burning project North of Houston.

The service will be burning piles of wood debris on Mount Harry Davis, around four kilometres north of the town.

The piles were created by a fuel management project in an effort to reduce the risk of unwanted wildfire.

Smoke from the burn may be visible from Highway 16, Houston, and surrounding areas.

The project is scheduled to start as early as tomorrow, and continue until July 3rd.

The exact timing of the burn will depend on site, weather, and venting conditions.

Pile burning will only take place if conditions are suitable and allow smoke to dissipate.
