Hazelton woman recognized for research on climate change resiliency

A Hazelton woman is one of 20 people being recognized as part of the 21st Annual Community Award ceremonies.

The event is put on by the BC Achievement Foundation and recognizes extraordinary British Columbians who build better, stronger and more resilient communities.

Janna Wale will be joining the other recipients on May 8th and is also being recognized as an emerging leader.

“From young leaders to experienced organizers, from entrepreneurs to educators, this year’s honorees show us the benefits of working together to build a happier, healthier and stronger British Columbia. Their good works are an inspiration to us all,” said Premier David Eby.

Wale was selected because of her work with the Canadian Climate Institute, combining Indigenous and western knowledge on building resilience to climate change in Indigenous communities.

Her work has also been used to inspire youth to pursue research in the field through various non-profit organizations.
